More than 7.5 million gallons of wastewater leaked from the Wintergreen Wastewater Treatment Facility into the nearby Rockfish River, according to a recent report from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
The report says the wastewater releases occurred over several months during the winter of 2024 and continued through April of this year.
